SYLVIA FINE
The songwriter and film producer who married Danny Kaye in 1940 signed this certificate regarding her voting for the 1971-1972 Television Academy Award nominees
Document Signed: "Sylvia Fine ". 8½x11. As a blue-ribbon panel judge for the 1971-1972 Television Academy Awards, Fine had to sign this sheet to certify that she will not vote for her own productions or one in which she has a vested interest. In addition, she certifies that she has “viewed all of the nominated achievements for which [she] has voted”. Sylvia Fine (1913-1991) was born in the Brooklyn borough of New York, just blocks from where eventual husband Danny Kaye was born two years before. The two met on a Broadway show. Following their marriage in 1940, she became her husband's manager, earning credits a songwriter in some of his movies as well as acting as producer. She served as a producer on The Court Jester(1955) and The Inspector General (1949), but she also wrote musical numbers for films including the previous two, Witness to Murder (1954) and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (1947). One of her songs from The Inspector General, "Happy Times", has resurfaced in the video game series Fallout; the song can be heard in Fallout 3 (2008) and Fallout 4 (2015). She was nominated for two Academy Awards in the Best Music, Original Song category, for "The Moon is Blue" (1953) and "The Five Pennies" (1960). In 1980, she won a Peabody Award for her work on Musical Comedy Tonight. Pinhole in top left corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
