TANYA TUCKER The famous country singer inscribes her signature with love on this piece of paper, in blue ink Autograph Note Signed: "Love/Tanya/Tucker/To John" in blue ink. 2¾x2¾ piece of paper. Written on verso of fragment of letterhead for Metro North State Bank. Tanya Denise Tucker (b. 1958) is an American country singer who had her first hit, “Delta Dawn”, in 1972. When the song became a huge hit, Tucker was only 14 years old. That same year, she was named the Top New Female Vocalist by the Academy of Country Music Awards. After spending most of the decade churning out country hits, her 1978 album TNT was a surprise: more of a rock album than a country one, the songs were still very popular and the album received a gold certification. The culmination of her singing career came in the early 1990s, when she released four albums in four years: Tennessee Woman (1990), What Do I Do with Me (1991), and Can't Run from Yourself (1992), and Soon (1993). All four of these albums were certified Gold, and the two released in 1991 and 1992 were certified Platinum. These albums fused together the country and pop genres, making her a cross-over star on the Billboard and Country charts. In 1991, she received the Female Vocalist of the Year award from the Country Music Association Awards. Tanya published her autobiography Nickel Dreams: My Life, in 1997, and in 2002 she was ranked No. 20 on CMT's 40 Greatest Women of Country Music. In 2005 she released a book, 100 Ways to Beat the Blues on Fireside, which included tips on shaking the blues from some of Tucker's friends such as Willie Nelson, Brenda Lee, Little Richard and Burt Reynolds. Tanya Tucker starred in her own reality show, Tuckerville, on TLC in 2005, which ran for two seasons. Over the course of her music career, Tucker has been nominated for 10 Grammys. ¼-inch tear at left edge. Print on verso shows through faintly. Otherwise, fine condition.
