Handwritten letter from the Pulitzer Prize winning author, apologizing for the delay in
response.
Autograph letter signed: "Taylor Branch", in black ink. 1 page, 8½x11. Baltimore, Maryland,
August 8, 2000. On his personal letterhead to "Dear Mr. Clearly" in full: "Sorry this was so
long delayed. I did not receive your request when I was in Atlanta. Yours." Taylor Branch (b.
1947) is an American author and historian best known for his three-volume work on
Martin Luther King, Jr., collectively called America in the King Years. The first volume,
titled Parting the Waters, won several awards including the English-Speaking Union Book
Award, National Book Critics Circle Award for General Nonfiction, and the Pulitzer Prize for
History. Branch is also well known for his work about former President Bill Clinton,
having become close friends with the politician during college. Slightly creased. Fine
condition.
