Signatures: "Charlie Eual", "Jack Parnell", "Johnnie Gray", "Ronne Scott", 4¼x3 album leaf. Ink note (unknown hand): "Paris Cinema/6-4-46"; pencil note (unknown hand): "Members of the Ted Heath Band. Veteran English trombonist Ted Heath (1900-1969) formed his own swing band in 1944, gaining popularity on tour and on the radio. His theme song was "Listen to the Music." The band, very popular in Britain through 1950, was said to rival any band in the world in playing skill. JACK PARNELL (1923-2010), who got his start with Heath's band, was voted the UK's best drummer in the Melody Maker poll 7 consecutive years in the 1950s. He was music director for independent UK TV network ATV for a quarter century (1956-1981), directing the orchestra for The Muppet Show, and composing themes for several series, including The Benny Hill Show. He led an ensemble, The Best of British Jazz from the mid-1970s through 1999, releasing two CDs. RONNIE SCOTT (1927-1996), a young alto and tenor saxophonist for Ted Heath, went on to found his own popular London nightclub in 1959 and two play in many jazz combos. JOHNNIE GRAY was a guitarist and lead vocalist, known for pop standards like "Deep Purple", "Volare" and "September Song". No information is available regarding Charlie Eual, who is not included on several widely available listings of Ted Heath band members. Lightly frayed at right edge. Slightly creased.
