KENNY BAKER
Warner Bros. studio photo, inscribed in person to collector Saul Goodman
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Saul/Kenny Baker". B/w, 8x10. Captioned in lower margin. Collector's ink stamp on verso dates signature: June 21, 1938. American singer and actor Kenneth Laurence "Kenny" Baker (1912-1985) first gained notice as a tenor on Jack Benny's radio program. Baker, who was replaced by Dennis Day when he left the show in 1939, later became a featured performer on Fred Allen's radio show, Texaco Star Theater (1940-1942). He also appeared in a number of feature films from 1934-1947, including College Rhythm (1934), At the Circus (1939), The Harvey Girls (1946) and Calendar Girl (1947). Additionally, Baker and Mary Martin co-starred in the original Broadway production of One Touch of Venus. Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Corners worn and creased. Lightly toned around edges. Otherwise, Fine condition.
