Photograph signed: "Ted Williams", B/w 19x11¼, matted to 24x16 overall (three surfaces). The photograph is signed below Williams at the dead center. Hall of Famer Ted Williams (1918-2002, born Theodore Samuel William in San Diego, California) played outfield for the Boston Red Sox from 1939-1960. He played for the Minneapolis Millers in 1938, a minor league team that played in Minneapolis Minnesota. The Millers were top level affiliates of the Boston Red Sox from 1936-1938 and 1958-1960. The team folded in 1960 with the arrival of the Minnesota Twins. Williams took time off from professional baseball to fight in World War II and Korea. He was the last to hit over .400 (.406 in 1941), leading the American League in hitting six times. His lifetime batting average is .344 with 521 home runs. The Splendid Splinter's accomplishments include two Triple Crowns, two MVPs, six American League batting championships and 18 All-Star Game selections. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1966.
