Pennant of the 1969 Washington Senators, the first team Williams managed
Pennant signed: "Ted Williams". 12 x 23, Official Washington Senators red and white pennant 1969 M.L.B.P.C. Hall of Famer Ted Williams (1918-2002) played outfield for the Boston Red Sox from 1939-1960, taking off time to fight in World War II and Korea. He was the last to hit over .400 (.406 in 1941), leading the American League in hitting six times. His lifetime batting average is .344 with 521 home runs. The Splendid Splinter's accomplishments include two Triple Crowns, two MVPs, six American League batting championships and 18 All-Star Game selections. He entered the Hall of Fame in 1966. Williams was named manager of the Washington Senators in 1969. He led the club for three years in the nation's capital, and continued to skipper the team when it became the Texas Rangers in 1972. In 1969, Williams led the perennially weak Senators to a winning season (86-76), 31 games better than the year before he took the helm. Slightly soiled. Pinholes to left of Senators logo. Otherwise, fine condition.
