TED WILSON - AUTOGRAPH - HFSID 80372
Sale Price $72.00
TED WILSON. Signature: "Ted Wilson", 2¾x1¼, irregularly cut. Ted Wilson was a winner of the National Town Crier Championship, held on the historic grounds of Hastings Castle in Sussex, England. The championship, which is held in close proximity to Hastings Day (October 14), will celebrate its 53rd year in 2007. British town criers date back to 1066, when they spread the news of the invasion of William of Normandy. Over the years, town criers passed news about such events as the Great Fire of London and Guy Fawkes' thwarted Gunpowder Revolt against Parliament. The role was of such great importance that harming town criers became a treasonable offense. Slightly creased. Soiled at lower margin. Fine condition.
