R&B singer Teddy Pendergrass (1950-2010), known for such hits as "If You Don't Know Me By Now", "Close the Door" and "Turn off the Lights", made an inspiring comeback after an auto accident left him paralyzed from the waist down in 1982. His inspiring music has been covered by a numerous others, including Simply Red & Patti Labelle and he recorded duets with artists like Whitney Houston. Releasing his last album in 2004 - "Love Songs Collection", Pendergrass officially retired in 2006 but continued to make special appearances to raise money for his charity, The Teddy Pendergrass Alliance.
