Photograph signed: "Temple Bailey", B/w 3½x5½. Affixed to a
Typed Letter signed and an 8x11 piece of card stock (3 surfaces). Accompanied
by: Typed Letter signed: "Temple Bailey", 1 page, 6x7. No
place, 1930 March 3. Written to "Dear Jean Feldman", in
full: "It is delightful to have your letter and to know you like my
books. I am inclosing a folder which will tell you something of my life and
work, and a postcard picture with my autograph. With the best of good wishes.
Very sincerely yours," Irene Temple Bailey (1885-1953) wrote 15
novels, three of which became best sellers: The Tin Soldier (1918),
Dim Lantern (1920) and The Blue Window (1926). Her short
stories were published in most of the leading magazines, including both
women's magazines like McCall's, but also general readership publications like
the Saturday Evening Post. She wrote the screenplay for the silent film
Auntie (1914). Her sentimental poem "A Mother's Walk" was very
popular and is still often reprinted. Adhesive on verso (no show through).
Letter creased and worn. Ink notes (unknown hand) on card stock. Otherwise, fine
condition.
