TERENCE ALEXANDER
Youthful image of the British actor shown seated in a finely tailored
suit (3½x5½)
Inscribed Photograph signed: "To Paul with/all good
wishes,/Terence Alexander". B/w, 3½x5½ overall, image 3½x4¼ (one surface).
The British actor, often billed as Terry Alexander (1923-2009), made his
debut in provincial repertory at age 16. A film actor since 1950, he has
specialized in slightly dissipated aristocrats. He was, for example, ideally
suited for the role of shabby but proud ex-military officer Rupert
Rutland-Smith in The League of Gentlemen (1960). Other roles have
included The Doctor's Dilemma (1958), Day of the Jackal (1973),
Day of the Damned (1985) and Bergerac (1981-1991). His last
on screen appearance came in 1999 on the series Casualty. Lightly worn at
upper corners. Pencil notes (unknown hand) on verso (no show through). Fine
condition.
