PATRICK B. O'SULLIVAN The congressman from Connecticut pens his name in blue ink on this 3½x2 card Signature: “Patrick B. O'Sullivan, M.C./ 5th District of Conn. 68th Congress”, in blue ink, 3½x2. Patrick Brett O'Sullivan (1887-1978) was a congressman from Connecticut. O'Sullivan received his Bachelor's Degree from Yale University in 1908. He then returned to Yale Law School, graduating in 1913 and joining the Connecticut bar that same year. From 1914 to 1917, he was on the Corporation Counsel of Derby, which monitored the city's finances. O'Sullivan also served as delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1916. He was a member of the State senate in 1917, serving as its minority leader. In 1918, he resigned from the State senate to enlist in the U.S. Navy. After the war, O'Sullivan was elected as a democrat to the 68th Congress and served from 1923 to 1925. After losing his bid for reelection, he resumed practicing law and taught as an associate professor at Yale Law School. O'Sullivan went on to serve as judge of the Connecticut Superior Court (1931-1950). He was an associate justice on the Connecticut Supreme Court from 1950 to 1957, and was elevated to the chief justice post in 1957. Following his mandatory retirement at the age of 70 from the Connecticut Supreme Court, he remained active in the legal community, serving as a state trial referee in New Haven, Connecticut. Additionally, in 1965, he functioned as co-chairman of the Constitutional Convention. Lightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
