winner of the Superbowl. Schramm's Dallas Cowboys won the event in 1972 and
1978. Schramm (1920-2003) was president and general manager of the
Cowboys from their creation as an expansion franchise (1960) until 1989.
Under his leadership, the team set a National Football League record of 20
consecutive winning seasons and reached the Superbowl five times. Schramm
played a central role in negotiating the merger of the NFL with the rival
American Football League (1966). After leaving the Cowboys, he became
president of the World League of American Football, now called NFL-Europe.
Schramm was inducted into the professional football Hall of Fame in 1991.
