The New York Yankees entered the 1961 World Series following a dominant 109-53 regular season, finishing first in the American League by eight games. The club led the league in runs scored (827) and home runs (240), while also posting a team ERA of 3.46, underscoring the strength of a pitching staff that would prove critical in October. The team was managed by longtime coach Ralph Houk, who, in his first season as manager, succeeded Casey Stengel and guided the Yankees to a championship. The Yankees' success was driven by many standout performances. Whitey Ford led the pitching staff with a 25-4 record during the regular season and carried that dominance into October, earning World Series MVP honors with two complete-game victories and a 0.00 ERA. Mickey Mantle powered the club throughout the season with a .317 average, 54 home runs, and 128 RBIs, finishing second in the MVP voting while remaining an offensive force in the postseason. Veteran catcher Yogi Berra provided experience and leadership behind the plate, appearing in his 14th World Series. In the World Series against the Cincinnati Reds, New York outscored Cincinnati 22-14. Ralph Terry added a dominating performance in Game 2, helping New York establish early control of the series. The Yankees dropped only one game before clinching the championship in Game 5 at Crosley Field in Cincinnati. Numbered Limited Edition #517 in a series of 1000. Excellent condition. Framed to an overall size of 44 x 26½.
