ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW TV CAST: DON KNOTTS and JEAN CARSON
Still from the series, showing Knotts as Barney Fife, astonished by the amorous advances of Carson, signed by both
Photograph signed: "Don Knotts", "Jean Carson". B/w, 8x10 DON KNOTTS (1924-2006) played zealous but inept Deputy Sheriff Barney Fife on The Andy Griffith Show, televised on CBS from 1960-1968. He left the series in 1965. Knotts won three Emmy Awards portraying Barney Fife while he was a regular, adding two more for appearances in an episode during the 1965-1966 season, "The Return of Barney Fife" and in the 1966-1967 season, "Barney Comes to Mayberry". Knotts also appeared in such films as No Time for Sergeants (1955) with Griffith and in The Incredible Mr. Limpet (1964), The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (1966) and The Shakiest Gun in the West (1968). Fans of classic TV remember Knotts as the extremely nervous "man in the street" on The Steve Allen Show (1956-1960). JEAN CARSON (1925-2005) debuted on Broadway in George S. Kaufman's Bravo, winning the 1949 Theatre World award. Other highlights included Anniversary Waltz, Kaufman's Metropole, Two Blind Mice and Bird Cage. A frequent TV face in the 1950s, and 1960s, she was a regular on The Red Buttons Show and The Betty Hutton Show. She appeared in the classic Twilight Zone episode "A Most Unusual Camera". She was Daphne, one of the "fun girls" who besiege Andy and Barney on three episodes of The Andy Griffith Show (1962, 1964, 1965). Her films include: The Phenix City Story (1955), I Married a Monster from Outer Space (1958), One Man's Way (1964), Blake Edwards' Gunn (1967), Warning Shot (1967), The Party (1968) and Fun with Dick and Jane (1977).
