THE BEATLES: PETE BEST 24x18 black and white publicity photograph of Peter Best with the members of The Silver Beatles. Photograph signed: "Pete Best/[paragraph sign]". B/w, 24x18 overall, image 22x15¾ (one surface). Captioned at bottom margin. Best is pictured with George Harrison, Paul McCartney and John Lennon, (not signing) when the group was known as The Silver Beatles. Pete Best (b.1941), was the Beatles' drummer in their formative years. Pete's mother, Mona, ran the Casbah Club, a cellar club in Hayman's Green, where the Beatles (who included drummer Stu Sutcliffe), had been playing. Best joined the Beatles in 1960, but was replaced in August 1962 by Ringo Starr, whom the other members had met while performing in Hamburg. After leaving the Beatles, Best became the backbone of Lee Curtis & the All Stars (1962-1963), which toured the United Kingdom and Germany and came in second - to the Beatles - in a British poll in 1963. He then formed the Pete Best Combo, touring and recording with the group from 1964-1968. It would be twenty years before he formed another group, The Pete Best Band, a popular nostalgia band. Best detailed his early experiences with the "Fab Four" in his book, The Beatles, The True Beginnings. Lightly chipped at upper edge. Fine condition.
