THE BIG SHAKEDOWN MOVIE CAST: BETTE DAVIS and CHARLES
FARRELL
Bette Davis and Charles Farrell sign a black and white publicity
photograph for their movie The Big Shakedown.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "Hello to Tom/Bette Davis"
and "Best to Tom/Chas Farrell". B/w, 8x10. First
National-Vitaphone movie still from 1934's The Big Shakedown. Former
bootlegger Dutch Barnes pressures neighborhood druggist Jimmy Morrell
(FARRELL) into making cut-rate drugs. The money makes it possible for
Jimmy to marry Norma Nelson (DAVIS), a pharmacy clerk. Nominated for
11 Academy Awards as Best Actress, Davis won two: Dangerous (1936)
and Jezebel (1939). Popular leading man of late silents and early
talkies, Farrell teamed with Janet Gaynor in 12 screen romances between 1927 and
1934. Lightly creased, primarily at blank margins. Worn edges. Tack holes at
four blank corners. "Bette" signed on dark portion (adequate contrast). Overall,
fine condition.
