B/w, 6x3½. The Black Abbots were a band founded in the English town of Chester in the
1960s. Known for their comedic bent, in 1977 the group landed its first major recording
contract. They released several popular comedy singles as well as a live album featuring
Abbot on lead vocals. The group dissolved in 1980. RUSS ABBOT (b. 1947), the founder
of the group, went on to enjoy a successful career in the entertainment industry. CLIVE
JONES, who provide vocals, LENNIE REYNOLDS, furnishing vocals and piano
accompaniment, and BOBBY TURNER, the guitar player, comprised the rest of the group.
In addition, Barry Hollinshead, who is not pictured here and did not sign, was known to have
played bass for the group. Faint staining and indentations throughout. Corners gently worn.
