The first starring movie role for RICHARD DREYFUSS was American Graffiti (1973), after which he earned notice for two Steven Spielberg films: Jaws (1975) and Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977). Dreyfuss earned the Academy Award for Best Actor for The Goodbye Girl (1977). Other praised performances include Whose Life Is It Anyway? (1981), Down and Out in Beverly Hills (1986), What About Bob? (1991) and Mr. Holland's Opus (Best Actor Oscar nomination, 1994). Actress SUSAN SARANDON was nominated for her first Academy Award for Best Actress for 1981's Atlantic City. Her prominent appearance in the 1986 hit, The Witches of Eastwick, brought her considerable attention. In 1988, she delivered a breakthrough performance in the baseball comedy, Bull Durham, which finally made her a star at the age of 40. In 1991, Sarandon teamed with Geena Davis for Thelma and Louise. Not only was the film one of the year's biggest hits, but both actresses were also nominated for Best Actress Oscars. Sarandon was again nominated for Oscars for Lorenzo's Oil (1992) and The Client (1994) before finally winning her first Academy Award for 1995's Dead Man Walking.
