BERT AND JOE CARSONY (CARSONY BROTHERS)
Vintage publicity photo of the world famous acrobatic trio signed by twin brothers Bert and Joe Carsony. (3½x5½) Extremely rare!
Inscribed photograph signed: "To Gerry/Our very best/wishes yours/the Carsony/Bros/Bert"and, "Joe", in blue ink. B/w, 3½x5½. The Carsony Brothers was a family acrobatic trio that became star Las Vegas performers during the 1950s. Led by the legendary Karl Carsony (born Karl Schrom in Austria, 1924-2012) with accompaniment of his younger twin brothers Englebert and Joseph Carsony, The Carsony Brothers got their start performing balancing acts in Europe. Soon they earned an international tour to the U.S. where they became stars in Hollywood, New York and the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas. In 1952, Karl was commissioned to perform a one-arm handstand on a cane at the top of the 50 ft. tower pylon sign at the Sahara Hotel. The feat won the Carsonys a home at the popular casino. They continued their world tours and Vegas acts until the twins died in 1964. Karl continued as a Vegas entertainer, becoming one of the city's greatest acrobatic icons. The name Carsony comes from a POW camp Karl was imprisoned in during WWII. Lightly bowed. Corners and edges creased and worn. Inscription in faint contrast, but legible. Creased throughout. Otherwise, fine condition.
