Playbill for a production of The Changing Room at Morosco Theatre in New York City, New York. A distinguished actor of stage, television, and movies who is at home playing everything from menacing villains, big-hearted transsexuals, and loopy aliens, JOHN LITHGOW (b. 1945) is also a composer and performer of children's songs, a Harvard graduate and a talented painter. Lithgow got his start in the early 1970s on Broadway. He remained in New York for many years, establishing himself as one of Broadway's most respected stars. Lithgow got his first real break and a Best Supporting Actor nomination when he played macho football player-turned-sensitive woman Roberta Muldoon in The World According to Garp (1982). He earned a second Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for Terms of Endearment (1983). Lithgow won two Tony Awards (1973, 2002), three Drama Desk Awards (1973, 1985, 2002) as well as the 2010 Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series for his performance in the Showtime television series Dexter. DOUG STENDER (b. 1947) appeared in nine Broadway shows between 1973 (The Changing Room) and 2007 (a new version of Pygmalion) Often he has filled character roles while serving as understudy for the lead roles. On television, Stender played Judge Joseph Flint in nine episodes of Law & Order (1991-2005), and another courtroom judge on an episode of All My Children (2010). Also appearing in the play was WILLIAM RHYS as "Fenny" Gordon Fenchurch, ALAN CASTNER as Frank Moore, JAKE DENGEL as Luke, ROBERT G. MURCH as Clifford Owens, and PAUL RYAN RUDD as Barry Copley.
