felt tip, B/w 8x9¾. Buddy Holly, JERRY ALLISON (1939-2022) and Joe B. Mauldin
formed The Crickets in Lubbock, Texas in February 1957. After Holly died in a plane
crash on February 3, 1959, Sonny Curtis joined the Crickets. The group performed in two
films in the 1960s, playing "La Bamba" in Girls On the Beach. When Curtis left in 1986, he
was replaced by Gordon Payne. With Payne in the group, The Crickets scored their biggest hit
since the glory days with Buddy Holly, "T-Shirt" (1988), produced by longtime fan Paul
McCartney. Fine condition.
