Signatures: "Bob", "Nick", "Stan", "Joe", all in red ink and "Leon", in blue ink on front, and "Sincerely, Lance Fortune", in red ink on verso, 5½x4. The Dallas Boys were a British vocal group who experienced their heyday during the 1950s and 1960s, performing on many popular British television shows. The group was made up of four classmates at the Moat Boys School in Leicester, England - Leon Fisk, Stan Jones, Joe Smith (ca. 1934-2012), and Bob Wragg (ca. 1934) - along with London native Nicky Clarke (ca. 1933-2010). Often described as "Britain's first boy band", the group began making regular appearances on the TV show Six-Five Special after winning a Butlins talent content and went on to be featured on a whole host of popular shows including Thank Your Lucky Stars (1961-1966), Sunday Night at the London Palladium (1955-1974), and Sez Les (1969-1976). The five members parted ways in the 1970s, but reunited in 1988 for a Cliff Richard's concert and then briefly toured the UK. Vocalist Lance Fortune (b. 1940), born Christopher Morris, was discovered by manager and impresario Larry Parnes, who helped him land a recording contract with Pye Records. Of the four singles he released after being signed, two became hits; his "Be Mine" hit no. 4 and "This Love I Have For You" reached the top 30 of the UK Singles Chart. Corners and edges lightly worn. Ink notes identifying signatures on both front and verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
