DAVE SOMERVILLE Card inscribed with the title of one of his Diamonds hits Autograph Quotation signed: "Why Do Fools / Fall in Love? / Love, Dave Somerville", 5¾x3¾. Dave Somerville (1933-2015) was the lead singer on all of the Diamonds' 16 hits of the late 1950s, including "Little Darlin'" and "Why Do Fools Fall in Love". He left the Diamonds in 1961 to join the Four Preps and in 1969 teamed up with fellow Prep Bruce Belland in a folk-singing duo. With his great baritone voice, Somerville was a spokesman for Mattel, Ford, and Toyota, among many other businesses. He wrote "The Ballad of the Unknown Stuntman," which became the theme song of the TV series it inspired - The Fall Guy (1981-1986). In the early 2000s he rejoined the Diamonds for reunion tours and Hall of Fame induction ceremonies (Vocal Group in 2004, Doo Wop in 2006). He also had a stage show called On the 1957 Rock & Roll Greyhound Bus. Fine condition.
