THE DIAMONDS: DAVE SOMERVILLE, TED KOWALSKI, MIKE DOUGLAS and BILL REED Members of the 1950's Doo-Wop group that originated "The Stroll" inscribe and sign an index card. Inscribed signature: "To/Dwight/Best of Luck/Dave/<>'s", "Ted", "Mike" and "Bill", 5x3  lined index card. The Diamonds, from Ontario, Canada, were one of the most popular quartets of early rock 'n' roll. Signing with Mercury Records in 1955, they made the charts with covers of R&B tunes, "Why Do Fools Fall in Love?" and "Little Darlin'". Then they started a dance craze with an original song of their own, "The Stroll." DAVE SOMERVILLE (1933-2015), the lead singer; TED KOWALSKI (1931-2010), tenor; and BILL REED (1936-2004), bass, were original members of the group. Baritone MIKE DOUGLAS (1934-2012) replaced the fourth original member, Phil Levitt, in the Spring of 1957. Although the Diamonds broke up in 1961, they were popular features on oldies tours in later years. Bill Reed died in 2004. Dave Somerville remains active as a soloist, and can be heard at the Dick Clark American Bandstand Theatre in Branson Missouri. The Diamonds are enshrined in several halls of fame, including the Canadian, Vocal Group and Doo-Wop halls. Dime-size water stain touching "T" and "d" of  Tedd. Lightly worn at corners. Ink notes (unknown hand) on verso (no show-through).  Otherwise, fine condition.
