This popular CBS sitcom, which ran from 1961 to 1966, starred Dick Van Dyke as TV writer Rob Petrie, assisted by Rose Marie ("Sally Rogers") and Morey Amsterdam ("Buddy Sorrell"). Mary Tyler Moore, who would go on to star in her own comedy series, played Rob's wife Laura Petrie. Van Dyke earned three of his five Emmy awards for this series, and Marie scored three Emmy nominations of her own on the Dick Van Dyke Show. VAN DYKE, born Richard Wayne Van Dyke in West Plains, Missouri in 1925, is a Tony and Emmy-Award winning American actor of stage, film and TV. In 1960, Van Dyke starred in the musical comedy Bye Bye Birdie, winning a Tony Award for his portrayal of songwriter Albert Peterson. In 1961, he was cast as comedy writer Rob Petrie on The Dick Van Dyke Show, which lasted five seasons and earned him three Emmies. He made his movie bow in the 1963 film adaptation of Bye Bye Birdie. His best known films from that era include Mary Poppins, Lt. Robin Crusoe, USN and The Comic, in which he played an amalgam of several self-destructive silent movie comedians. As gifted at writing and illustrating as he is at singing, dancing and clowning, Van Dyke has penned two books, Faith, Hope and Hilarity and Those Funny Kids. AMSTERDAM (1908-1996, born in Chicago, Illinois) was a comedian and actor best known for his role as Buddy Sorrell on The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-1966). Amsterdam, a vaudeville veteran who had earlier starred on radio and television and in films, gained a new generation of fans with his villainous role on the CBS soap, The Young and the Restless, while he was in his 80s. MARIE (born Rose Marie Mazetta 1923-2017) had two careers - first as "Baby Rose Marie", appearing on stage at the age of three and soon becoming a vaudeville and NBC radio star, and later as a comedienne and actress who appeared on stages from Broadway to Las Vegas and on both the big and small screen. Rose Marie is best known for her role as wisecracking Sally Rogers on The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-1966), but she also starred in several other series, including My Sister Eileen (1960-1961) and The Doris Day Show (1969-1971) and the popular game show, Hollywood Squares. Rose Marie made her film debut in 1933's International House and then appeared in 1954's Top Banana, reprising her role from the 1953 Broadway musical that co-starred Phil Silvers. Her other credits include Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round (1966), Cheaper to Keep Her (1980) and Ghettoblaster (1989), and she made numerous TV guest appearances. REINER (1922-2020), was an American actor and comedian. An immediate TV comedy success on Sid Caesar's Your Show of Shows (1951-1954), Reiner created, wrote for and acted in The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-1966). Besides co-starring with Mel Brooks on several comedy record albums, Reiner has appeared in films for over 40 years, including a role as con man Saul Bloom in Ocean's Eleven (2001). His son, Rob Reiner, has pursued a similar career. Lightly bowed, otherwise in fine condition.
