THE DILLARDS: HERB PEDERSON, RODNEY WEBB and RODNEY DILLARD Three members of the bluegrass band pen their names on this album leaf Autograph Note signed: "For George from all us Dillards with many thanks/ Herb & [name difficult to decipher]", "Dean", "Best wishes/ Rodney" all in blue ink, 6¾x9¼. The Dillards are a bluegrass band that formed in Salem, Missouri. The members who have signed this album leaf are banjo and guitar player Herb Pedersen, mandolin player Dean Webb, and guitarist Rodney Dillard (Webb and Dillard being the only founding members to sign). The group, although reputed in bluegrass/folk circles, were best-known to a wider audience for appearing as The Darlings, a fictional family of musical hillbillies, on The Andy Griffith Show (1960-1968). Interestingly, they were one of the very first bluegrass groups to go electric, modifying their instruments midway through the 1960s. In 2014, after former member Jeff Gilkinson and founding member Rodney Dillard crossed paths, Gilkinson helped land a deal for the Dillards with 1680Entertainment in Nashville, Tennessee and the group has continued to record and play. Left edge slightly irregular from being neatly cut from album. Otherwise, fine condition.
