THE DOCTOR AND THE GIRL MOVIE CAST: JANET LEIGH and GLENN FORD
Shown together in a black and white publicity photograph for the 1949 film
Photograph signed: "Glenn Ford" and "Janet Leigh" in black felt tip. B/w 8x10. Publicity photograph for the 1949 film The Doctor and the Girl. The mother of actresses Kelly and Jamie Lee Curtis with third husband (1951-1962) Tony Curtis, JANET LEIGH (1927-2004) was one of Hollywood's biggest stars from the late 1940s into the 1960s. Best remembered as the Oscar-nominated murder victim in the shower in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960), she also starred in such films as Little Women (1949), Scaramouche (1952), My Sister Eileen (1955), Touch of Evil (1958), The Manchurian Candidate (1962) and Harper (1966). After making his screen debut in 20th Century-Fox's Heaven With a Barbed Wire Fence (1939), GLENN FORD (1916-2006) played diverse roles, including dark characters (The Blackboard Jungle and Ransom, both released in 1955), romantic leading men (Teahouse of the August Moon, 1956; The Gazebo, 1959) and rugged western heroes (The Desperados, 1943; The Sheepman, 1958; Cimarron, 1960). In 1958, Ford was voted the number one male box-office attraction, and he remained popular long after the studio system that "created" him had collapsed. Later in his career, he appeared on television as well as appearing in feature films, including Superman: The Movie (1978). Creased. Multiple tack-head size holes at top left corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
