JOHN DENSMORE (THE DOORS)
Youthful black and white photograph of the drummer of The Doors signed and inscribed to a fan.
Inscribed Printed photograph signed in ink: "To/Karen/John/Densmore", in black ink. B/w 8x10. American musician and song-writer John Densmore (b.1944) is most known as the former drummer of the American rock band The Doors (1965-1970) with Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger. Following Morrison's tragic death in 1971, the Doors disbanded and in 1973 Densmore went on to start the short-lived group, The Butts Band with fellow ex-Doors guitarist Krieger. In the 1980s Densmore turned to an acting career, starring in his own stage production Skins in 1984 (La Mama Theatre, New York). In 1985 he won the LA Weekly Theatre award for music in Methusalem (directed by Tim Robbins) and in 1987 he earned the NAACP award for his play Round (which he co-produced). On screen he's landed guest appearances in Dudes (1987), Beverly Hills, 90210 (1992) and Coach (1993). As a composer he has been featured in nearly 50 works, including The X Files (1998), The Waterboy (1998), Superstar (1999) and Castaway (2000). He is the author of the best-selling book Riders On The Storm (1990) an autobiography, and The Doors Unhinged (2013) which follows his legal disputes with Krieger and Manzarek over the rights to The Doors name. Corners slightly creased. Fine condition.
