THE FOUR SHOWMEN, DIANE HERBERT & OTHERS
Signed album leaf of the rockabilly group The Four Showmen. Also signed by Diane Herbert, Ted Talbot, Hugh Walter and George Johnston. Extremely rare!
Autograph sentiment signed: "Sincerely yours/The Four Showmen", and, "Best Wishes/George Johnston", "The best--Hugh Walter", "Sincerely--Diane", and on verso, "To Johnny/Sincerely/Ted Talbot", 6x4¼. THE FOUR SHOWMEN (now known as the Showmen) were a rockabilly/rock n' roll group of the 1950s and 1960s. Composed of members General Norman Johnson (born 23 May, 1943, lead), Milton "Smokes" Wells (bass), Gene "Cheater" Knight (first tenor), Dorsey "Chops" Knight (second tenor) and Leslie "Fat Boy" Felton (baritone), the band is best known for their hit "It Will Stand." Originally called the Humdingers, The Four Showmen changed their name to simply The Showmen once the group recruited sibling tenors Chops and Cheater to replace their first tenor. DIANE HERBERT was a fashion journalist for The Microphone Newspaper. Her reports included discussions of both national and international fashions, as well as vacation and entertainment venues. She often interviewed famous performers (and their wives), which is most likely why she signed with the Four Showmen. More research is required for signers Ted Talbot, Hugh Walter and George Johnston. Toned. Creased. Binding holes at left edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
