First Day Cover signed: "Fred M. Vinson" as Chief Justice and "Hugo L. Black", "Stanley Reed", "Felix Frankfurter", "W O Douglas", "Robert H. Jackson", "Harold H. Burton", "Tom C. Clark" and "Sherman Minton" as Associate Justices, 6½x3½. First day cover honoring the 150th anniversary of Washington, D.C. Postmarked Washington, D.C., August 2, 1950. 3¢ stamp picturing the U.S. Supreme Court building affixed, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. Signed vertically, one beneath the other, by every member of the Supreme Court at the time the stamp was issued. Chief Justice VINSON was appointed by President Truman and served from 1946-1953. CLARK and MINTON joined the Court in 1949. Associate Justice DOUGLAS, appointed by FDR, served through Ford's administration (1939-1975). His was the longest term in U.S. history. Lightly creased. Frankfurter's signature runs partially through the postmark. Otherwise, fine condition.
