Two of the family-favorite actors sign their names on this black and white publicity photo from the hit TV show
Inscribed photograph signed: "For Scott/much love/Marla Gibbs", and "Hi Scott! Ned Wertimer/ RALPH!". In blue felt tip. B/w 8x10. The Jeffersons, a spinoff of another Norman Lear creation, All in the Family, aired on CBS from January 18, 1975 - July 23, 1985. Sherman Hemsley starred as George Jefferson, the owner of a chain of dry-cleaning stores. Isabel Sanford (1917-2004) was his tolerant and understanding wife, Louise "Weezy" Jefferson. Franklin Cover (1928-2006) played neighbor Tom Willis, the husband in the first racially-mixed couple to appear in a prime-time series. Berlinda Tolbert portrayed the Willis' daughter Jenny, who later married the Jeffersons' son, Lionel. MARLA GIBBS (b. 1948) gained a following as the sarcastic maid on The Jeffersons, and then starred as Mary Jenkins on another TV series, 227 (1985-1990). She has made many TV guest appearances, with a recurring role on the daytime drama Passions. Gibbs owned a Los Angeles jazz club for 18 years (1981-1999), released a music CD It's Never Too Late, in 2006, and co-wrote the theme song of 227. American actor NED WERTIMER (1923-2013) is best known for his role as Ralph Hart, the doorman on the popular television sitcom The Jeffersons (1974-1984). Wertimer began his career on Broadway in perfomances such as Texas Li'l Darlin' (1949), The Live Wire(1950), and All in Good Time (1963). As television grew in popularity, so did Wertimer's prominence, appearing as a guest star in over 100 shows such as Gunsmoke (1969), Mary Tyler Moore (1970-1974), McMillan & Wife (1972-1974), and Mork & Mindy (1979). He also appeared in various films such as Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964), Bad Company(1972), The Pack (1977) and most recently Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007).
