PEGGY LENNON (THE LENNON SISTERS)
A signature from Peggy of the Lennon Sisters, writing "God bless you"
Autograph note signed: "God/bless you/Peggy/Lennon/Cathcart", in black ink, 3x5. The Lennon Sisters, 16-year-old Dianne ("Dee Dee"), 14-year-old Peggy, 12-year-old Kathy and nine-year-old Janet, made their debut on Lawrence Welk's 1955 Christmas show, and remained on the popular weekly program through 1967. The popular quartet had a #15 hit with "Tonight You Belong to Me" in 1956 and another popular single, "Sad Movie (Make Me Cry)" almost five years later. During their tenure with Welk, the sisters toured extensively with the Lawrence Welk Orchestra and appeared on a number of TV variety shows, including those hosted by Perry Como, Andy Williams and Ed Sullivan. The Lennons also had their own TV series, Jimmy Durante Presents the Lennon Sisters Hour (1969-1970), and have sung for six U.S. Presidents. In 1994, they began appearing at The Welk Champagne Theater in Branson, Missouri. After Peggy retired in 1999, she was replaced by sister Mimi, and when Dee Dee retired in 2000, the Lennon Sisters continue to perform in Branson as a trio. Toned. Faint, small stains on left margin. Ink notes (unknown hand) on verso. Fine condition.
