The day after this contract, Lou Adler resigned from Dunhill Records and was hired by the Mamas and the Papas to be their producer and, as an independent contractor, to supervise, direct and produce their recording sessions. The Mamas and the Papas, who had been formed in New York in 1964, had moved to Los Angeles, where they were discovered and signed by Lou Adler in 1965, right after Adler had founded Dunhill Records. Their hits include "California Dreamin'", "Monday, Monday" and "Dedicated to the One I Love". The Grammy Award-winning group disbanded in 1972. Cass Elliot was only 30 when she died of a heart attack in London in 1974. John Phillips was 65 when he died in 2001 of heart failure. DENNIS "DENNY" DOHERTY died in 2007 at age 66. Anything signed by all four members is highly desirable. Lightly creased. Staple holes at upper left blank corner, 2 file holes at upper blank margin. Usual black marks from photocopying.
