NEW YORK YANKEES (1956)
Poster showing Berra hugging Larsen after the perfect game, signed by 17 of the World Champions
Poster signed: "Moose Skowron", "Phil Rizzuto", "Yogi Berra", "Enos Slaughter", "Jerry Lumpe", "Bobby Richardson", "Hank Bauer", "Irv Noren", "Andy Carey", "Gil McDougald", "Tommy Byrne", "Whitey Ford", "Don Larsen", "Johnny Kuchs", "Jim Coates", "Sonny Dixon" and "Norm Siebern". In all 17 signers. B/w, 16x20. Image: Jon Colt. The 1956 New York Yankees won 97 games under manager Casey Stengel in what was still a 154-game season, grabbing their second straight pennant and defeating a strong Brooklyn Dodgers team, which had won its first World Series by beating the Yanks the year before, in 7 games. The highlight of the series was the perfect game thrown by Don Larsen in Game 5, the only one in Series history. Signers here include four members of the Hall of Fame (Berra, Rizzuto, Slaughter and Ford), other names well remembered by veteran Yankees fans, and of course the battery of Larsen and Berra pictured on the poster. Fine condition.
