Playbill of the Roundabout Theatre Company production of Night of the
Iguana at Criterion Center Stage Right (1996). Signed by all 14 on the cast
page. This 1996 revival of the Tennessee Williams play, first presented on
Broadway in 1961, ran for 69 performances from March to May 1996. The
starring roles are filled by William Petersen (in the fallen minister's role
played by Richard Burton in the 1964 film), Marsha Mason as motel owner Maxine
(Ava Gardner in the movie) and Cherry Jones as the wandering artist portrayed on
screen by Deborah Kerr. The movie fame of MARSHA MASON (b. 1942)
soared when she received four nominations for the Best Actress Academy
Award in a brief span of years (Cinderella Liberty, 1973; The
Goodbye Girl, 1977; Chapter Two, 1979; and Only When I Laugh,
1981). The latter three films were written by her husband at the time,
playwright Neil Simon. Mason has also appeared on television and in films
including Stella (1990) and I Love Trouble (1994). In 1997, she
became a semi-regular on the popular NBC sitcom, Frasier, playing the love interest of Kelsey Grammar's
father, John Mahoney. Stage, screen and television actress CHERRY JONES (b.
1946) won the Tony Award for Best Actress for a revival of The
Heiress in 1995 and for Doubt in 2005, and she has been nominated
for Tonys in the same category for Our Country's Good (1991) and a
revival of A Moon for the Misbegotten (2000). Jones, who made her film
debut in 1987, has been seen on the big screen in such features as The
Horse Whisperer (1998), Cradle Will Rock (1999), Erin
Brockovich (2000), The Perfect Storm (2000), Divine Secrets of the
Ya-Ya Sisterhood (2002), Signs (2002), The Village (2004) and
Ocean's Twelve (2004). She has also starred in number of made-for-TV
movies (since 1986), was a regular on Loving (1992) and has
made guest appearances on a number of TV series and talk shows. WILLIAM
PETERSON (b. 1953), seen in live theatre since the mid-1970s, is most
familiar as Dr. Gil Grissom on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
(2000-2009). He played Joseph Kennedy in The Kennedys of Massachusetts
(1990) and JFK himself in The Rat Pack (1998). He was Sheriff Pat Garret
in Young Guns II (1990). Lightly worn. Otherwise, fine
condition.
