THE ODD COUPLE TV CAST: JACK KLUGMAN, TONY RANDALL, NEIL "DOC" SIMON, GARRY MARSHALLThis baseball is signed by the two stars of the TV adaptation of The Odd Couple. It's also signed by Simon, who wrote the play and movie on which the TV series was based, and Marshall, who produced the series. Baseball signed "Jack/Klugman" in black ink in the sweet-spot and "Neil Simon" in black ink, "Garry Marshall" in blue ink and "Tony Randall/Felix - OC/19 Jun 97" in black ink. 2½-inch diameter. Wilson A1250 Official League baseball. This baseball is signed by four of the people responsible for the TV incarnation of The Odd Couple (1970-1975). KLUGMAN and RANDALL, respectively played slovenly Oscar Madison and neat-to-the-point-of-obsessive-compulsive Felix Unger. SIMON wrote the 1965 play and the 1968 movie on which the MARSHALL-produced series was based. The veteran of over 400 television shows, KLUGMAN, born Jacob Joachim Klugman in Philadelphia Pennsylvania in 1922, won his first Emmy Award for a guest appearance on The Defenders in 1964. From 1971 to 1974, he won another two Emmy Awards for one of his most memorable roles: slob Oscar Madison on The Odd Couple, which co-starred Tony Randall. He also starred in Quincy (also titled Quincy, M.E.) which was televised on NBC from 1976 to 1983. He starred in the title role as Dr. R. Quincy, a medical examiner for the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office. Klugman, who was also nominated for the 1960 Tony Award for Best Supporting or Featured Actor (Musical) for Gypsy, had made his film debut eight years later in Grubstake (1952). His other notable films include 12 Angry Men (1958), Days of Wine and Roses (1962), Goodbye, Columbus (1969) and Dear God (1996). Best remembered for his role as Felix Unger in the TV version of The Odd Couple, RANDALL (1920-2004, born Arthur Leonard Rosenberg in Tulsa, Oklahoma) was an accomplished radio and stage actor from the late 1940s. From the late 1950s, he starred in successful film comedies, including Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter (1957), Pillow Talk (1959) and Lover Come Back (1961). His other TV series included The Tony Randall Show (1976) and the Emmy Award-winning Dear Sydney (1981-1982). Sometimes in trouble with the networks for his outspoken politics, Randall was also in demand for quiz shows because of his encyclopedic knowledge of trivia. SIMON (1927-2018) has won three Tony Awards for Best Play (The Odd Couple, 1965; Biloxi Blues, 1985; Lost in Yonkers, 1991), a Pulitzer Prize (Lost in Yonkers, 1991), two Emmys for his television writing and a 1978 Golden Globe for his screenplay for The Goodbye Girl. His other Tony-nominated Broadway plays include Barefoot in the Park (1964), Sweet Charity (1966), Plaza Suite (1968), Promises, Promises (1969), The Prisoner of Second Avenue (1972), The Sunshine Boys (1973) and They're Playing Our Song (1979). MARSHALL (1934-2016), born Garry Kent Marsciarelli in New York City has produced some of TV's most successful comedies:The Odd Couple, Happy Days (1974-1984), Laverne and Shirley (1976-1983, which co-starred his sister, comedic actress and director Penny Marshall) and Mork and Mindy (1978-1982). Marshall, who had his greatest film success with Pretty Woman (1990), has directed a number of other films, including the recent The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement and Raising Helen (both 2004). The director and producer, who began his career as a comedy writer, has also appeared in a number of films and guest starred on several TV series. Lightly toned. Marshall's signature is lightly smeared. Randall's signature has faded and bled slightly. Otherwise, fine condition.
