"Dave Roberts", "Bob Skinner", "Mike Easler", "Manny Sanguillen", "Ed Ott", "Dale Berra",
"Eddie Solomon", "Enrique Romo", and "Philip Garner". One unidentified signer, located
between Bibby and Rhoden's signatures. All of the signers were employed by the Pittsburgh
Pirates during the 1980 MLB season. The Pirates went 83-79, finishing third in the NL East
behind the Philadelphia Phillies and the Montreal Expos. Official Rawlings baseball. JIM
BIBBY (1944-2010) was a right-handed pitcher who played for the Pirates for five years.
RICK RHODEN (b. 1953) pitched for the Pirates from 1979 to 1986, earning two All-Star
selections during that time. TIM FOLI (b. 1950) played for the Pirates from 1979 to 1981,
then returned to the team for his final season in 1985. He won the World Series with the
Pirates in 1979. LEE LACY (b. 1948) spent sixteen seasons in the MLB, primarily in right
field. CHUCK TANNER (1928-2011) played in the 1950s before becoming manager. He
managed the Pirates for nearly a decade until 1985. Reliever KENT TEKULVE (b. 1947)
played for the Pirates for 12 seasons. JOHN CANDELARIA (b. 1953) pitched for the
Pirates for 12 seasons, winning 177 games over the course of his 19-season career. BERT
BLYLEVEN (b. 1951) was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2011. The Minnesota
Twins retired his number. STEVE NICOSIA (b. 1955) played catcher for the Pirates and
three other teams during his eight-season career. WILLIE STARGELL (1940-2001) was
inducted into Cooperstown in 1988. His #8 is retired by the Pittsburgh Pirates. DAVE
ROBERTS (1944-2009) is considered one of the best Jewish pitchers of all time. A
career journeyman, he played for eight teams over 13 seasons. BOB SKINNER (b. 1931)
was one of the infield coaches for the Pirates. He also played and managed. MIKE EASLER
(b. 1950) batted .338 in 1980, a career high. MANNY SANGUILLON (b. 1944 in Colón,
Panama) sat behind home plate for the Pirates for 13 seasons, from 1967 to 1976 and
again from 1978 to 1980. ED OTT (1951-2024) spent most of his playing career with the
Pirates. DALE BERRA (b. 1956) could be seen in the infield for the Pirates from 1977 to
1984. EDDIE SOLOMON (1951-1986) died in a car accident when he was just 34
years old. He retired from baseball in 1982. ENRIQUE ROMO (b. 1947 in Santa
Rosalia, Mexico) played in the MLB for six seasons, four with the Pirates. PHIL GARNER
(b. 1949) played in the MLB for 16 seasons from 1973 to 1988 and later worked as an
MLB manager for another 15 seasons into the early 2000s. Light staining throughout. All
signatures legible. Printed Rawlings type lightly faded. Otherwise, fine condition.
