The Trail Blazers 19th NBA season began with a 25-22 record before Coach Mike Schuler was fired. Portland promoted Rick Adelman to Coach and he led the team into that year's playoffs. Unfortunately they were bounced out of the first playoff round after losing three games straight to the Los Angeles Lakers.  Signers include coaches Mike Schuler and Rick Adelman, centers Rolando Ferreira, Kevin Duckworth, Caldwell Jones, Steve Johnson and Sam Bowie, forwards Kiki Vandeweghe, Adrian Branch, Mark Bryant, Jerome Kersey and guards Clyde Drexler, Terry Porter, and Danny Young. As well as John Wetzel, a guard who played in the NBA from 1967 until 1988. Clyde Drexler is a 10-time NBA All-Star and is enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame, Terry Porter is a 2-time All-Star and his jersey number "30" has been retired by the Trail Blazers, Mike Schuler coached the Trail Blazers from 1986-1988 and Rick Adelman played for Portland from 1970-1973 and coached the team from 1988-1993.
