action/adventure disaster movie, was the biggest box office hit of 1973, grossing twice the
revenue of the runner-up film, Deliverance. The star-studded cast included the four signers here,
two of whom actually survive in the movie. The Poseidon Adventure has been remade twice,
most recently in 2006, and generated a less successful 1979 sequel. It also inspired several
more disaster movies with all-star casts. In 1955, ERNEST BORGNINE (1917-2012)
proved his versatility in the film version of Paddy Chayefsky's acclaimed television
play Marty., earning him an Oscar, a British Academy award, a Cannes Festival
award, among other honors. In 1962, he was cast in the role that most baby boomers best
remember him for, Quentin McHale in the sitcom McHale's Navy. During the '60s and
'70s, Borgnine appeared in many films including The Dirty Dozen (1966), Ice Station Zebra
(1968) and The Wild Bunch (1969). Notable features include The Poseidon Adventure and
Law and Disorder (1974). He earned an Emmy at age 92 for a guest appearance on ER.
GENE HACKMAN (1930-2025) won the Best Actor Award for his role as narcotics
agent Popeye Doyle in The French Connection (1971). A Best Supporting Actor Oscar
winner for the Western Unforgiven (1993), Hackman earned critical acclaim in such films as
The Conversation (1974), Mississippi Burning (1989) and The Royal Tenenbaums (2001).
Although it won no critics' awards, Hoosiers (1986), in which Hackman portrayed a high school
basketball coach, won a fans' poll on the ESPN website (2002) as the best sports film of all
time. Pamela Sue Martin, who began her career as a model, made her film debut in To Find a
Man in 1972, the year she was cast in The Poseidon Adventure. Although she made a
number of films, including Buster & Billie (1974) and The Lady in Red (1979), Martin found
her greatest fame on the small screen, starring as the first Nancy Drew (1977-1978) in
The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries and then as Fallon Carrington Colby (1981-1984)
on Dynasty. She has also appeared in a number of TV movies and series, including Fantasy
Island (1980), The Love Boat (1980) and That '70s Show (2002). Lightly creased at lower
right blank corner. Minor surface scratch (not evident head on) nicks hair. Twice a Playboy
magazine nude, Stevens also displayed real talent as an actress, often appearing in
comedy roles. Among her film credits are Li'l Abner (1959), The Courtship of Eddie's Father
(1962), The Nutty Professor (1963), and The Poseidon Adventure (1972). A frequent TV
guest, she starred in the series Flamingo Road (1981-1982). She is the mother of actor Andrew
Stevens. Originally a teen model and commercial actress, Lynley has made movie for over 40
years. Prominent roles included Blue Denim (1959), Bunny Lake is Missing and Harlow (both
1965) and The Poseidon Adventure (1972). A recent contribution is Drowning on Dry Land
(1999). Fine condition.
