Photograph signed: "Jock/Mahoney" and "Dick Jones", B/w 8x10. Shown in a scene from the western television series The Range Rider which aired for 78 episodes from 1951 to 1953. Mahoney starred as The Range Rider and Dick Jones co-starred as Dick West. Jock Mahoney (1919-1989), born Jacques O'Mahoney, a legendarily talented stuntman, appeared in action films from the 1940s and in starring roles in the 1950s. On television, he starred as The Range Rider (1951-1953) and Yancy Derringer (1958-1959). Many of his film roles were in Westerns, but he also starred in four Tarzan films (1960-1970). In his last film, The End (1978), Mahoney appeared with Burt Reynolds, a longtime admirer, and with Sally Field, his stepdaughter. Dick Jones (1927-2014) was cast as the voice of Pinocchio at age 10. Hoot Gibson had him performing riding and rope tricks at age six in the rodeo and ultimately sponsored his move to California. Other early movie parts were in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and Destry Rides Again with James Stewart. In 1949, Gene Autry hired him as a stun man thus beginning his television career: The Range Rider -he was the sidekick (1951-53), Dick West and Buffalo Bill Jr. (1955-56) with guest appearances on Gunsmoke, Annie Oakley and The Lone Ranger. Jones worked in nearly 100 films and more than 200 television episodes, retiring from show business in 1959. Light surface scratches (not visible head on). Slightly worn at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
