The Real Thing, a play by Tom Stoppard, won the Tony as Best Play (1984). Close and Irons also won as Best Actress and Actor in a drama. Director Mike Nichols and featured actress Christine Baranski also won Tonys. GLENN CLOSE (b. 1947) is one of Hollywood's most celebrated actresses. Her acclaim is not limited to the film world, as she has also found great success in various television and stage productions, most notably the Broadway musical version of Sunset Boulevard and in the acclaimed 1991 made-for-TV movie Sarah, Plain and Tall which was successful enough to have two sequels. She has been nominated for an Oscar five times (The World According to Garp, 1982; The Big Chill, 1983; The Natural, 1984; Fatal Attraction, 1987 and Dangerous Liaisons, 1988). While Close doesn't yet own an Oscar, she has 3 Tonys, an Obie, 3 Emmys, 2 Golden Globes, and a Screen Actors Guild award.She starred as a high-powered litigator in the TV drama Damages (2007-2010). British Academy, Tony and Emmy Award-winning film, stage and television actor JEREMY IRONS (b. 1948) is known for his intensity and patrician cool. After breaking into films in 1980 (Nijinsky), Irons received international attention for his appearance in the 1981 BBC miniseries, Brideshead Revisited. His films include The French Lieutenant's Woman (1981), Reversal of Fortune (1990; Academy Award for Best Actor) and Longitude (2000), and Irons has appeared on stage in such productions as Godspell (1971) and The Real Thing (1984, his Broadway debut; Tony Award for Best Actor-Drama). Also the winner of a 1996 Emmy Award for Best Voice-Over for the TV miniseries, The Great War and the Shaping of the 20th Century, Irons was also the narrator for the "Spaceship Earth" attraction at Epcot Center at Walt Disney World.
