London, no date. Show Bill for The Rivals at the Saville Theatre. JOHN CLEMENTS directed the play, in which Harvey starred as Captain Absolute, Seyler played Mrs. Malaprop and Medwin was Bob Acres. Stage and screen actor LAURENCE HARVEY (1928-1973), born Laruschka Mischa Skikne in Lithuania, was the first Lithuanian actor to be nominated for an Academy Award (Best Actor, Room at the Top, 1959). Harvey, who made his film debut in 1948, appeared in such films as Romeo and Juliet (1954), I Am a Camera (1955), Butterfield 8 (1960), The Manchurian Candidate (1962), Of Human Bondage (1964) and Welcome to Arrow Beach (1974, his last film, which he also directed). He also appeared in a number of made-for-TV movies and TV shows. Harvey, who had begun his acting career on the stage in Britain, later became a producer, director and writer. British stage actress ATHENE SEYLER (1889-1990) also appeared in feature films from 1921-1963 and was seen on the TV series, The Avengers (1964, 1965). British actor MICHAEL MEDWIN (born in 1923) began appearing in feature films in 1946, made a number of made-for-TV movies and was on the TV series, The Army Game (1957-1959), for which he sang the theme song, and Shoestring (1979).
