THE SEARCHING WIND MOVIE CAST: ROBERT YOUNG and SYLVIA SIDNEY
The co-stars are shown together in close-up.
Photograph signed: "Robert Young", "Sylvia Sidney". B/w, 10x8. Probably a promotional photo for The Searching Wind, the Paramount film in which they co-starred. Perhaps best known as Jim Anderson on Father Knows Best (television, 1954-1960; radio 1949-1954) and the title practitioner on television's Marcus Welby, M.D. (1969-1976), ROBERT YOUNG (1907-1998) also appeared in over 100 films. In some screen roles, such as the cold-blooded spy in Hitchcock's Secret Agent (1936) and the no-good philanderer in They Won't Believe Me (1947), Young showed an acting range far wider than his likeable and wholesome TV characters. Typecast as a proud but downtrodden working class girl during the Depression era, SYLVIA SIDNEY (1910-1999) returned to the screen after a long absence to earn an Oscar nomination as Best Supporting Actress in Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams (1973). The Searching Wind (1946) cast Young and Sidney as Americans who meet in Italy just as Mussolini is coming to power, and then re-unite in Paris after the war. It is the only film Young and Sidney made together. Fine condition.
