Sheltering Sky was a 1990 film that won a Golden Globe and a BAFTA. Actress Debra Winger (b. 1955) had her first taste of fame was as the super-powered younger sister of Lynda Carter in the fantasy television series Wonder Woman (1976-1977). She became a full-fledged audience favorite for her role opposite John Travolta in Urban Cowboy (1980), which led to the most famous of her "working-class" roles in An Officer and a Gentleman (1982). The actress' next big performance foredoomed daughter in Terms of Endearment. Her resultant performance was so good that it warranted an Oscar nomination. She's earned three Oscar nominations, four Golden Globe nominations, and an Emmy nomination, but has failed to win any. John Malkovich (b. 1953) is an American actor who has appeared in dozens of film roles since his big-screen debut in Places in the Heart (1984). Malkovich majored in theater at Illinois State University. He went on to become an original member of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company of Chicago, alongside Gary Sinise and Joan Allen. His accolades include a Primetime Emmy award for his performance in Death of a Salesman (1985). He received critical acclaim for his role as a fictional version of himself in the 1999 film Being John Malkovich. Other notable roles include Burn After Reading (2008) and RED (2010). Lightly bowed.
