THE SHOOTIST MOVIE CAST: JIMMY STEWART, LAUREN BACALL, HUGH O' BRIAN and RON HOWARD
All four sign a poster featuring the film's star, John Wayne. Each actor has signed by his picture, smaller images surrounding the Duke's.
Poster signed: "James Stewart", "Lauren Bacall", "Ron Howard", and inscribed "Bill/Happiness/Hugh O'Brian". Color, 8x10¼ Poster for the feature film The Shootist (1976). John Wayne's last film, features him as aging gunfighter John Bernard Brooks, diagnosed by his doctor (JIMMY STEWART) with terminal cancer, and determined to die in a gun duel instead. The film was a valedictory for the actor and but also for the Old West (in a town where autos and streetcars have appeared). HUGH O'BRIAN, better known as TV's Wyatt Earp, portrays a gambler and old enemy of Brooks. But Brooks finds new friends in a feisty widow [LAUREN BACALL (1924-2014)], and her son (RON HOWARD), who idolizes Brooks. Director Don Siegel, known more for violent movies like Dirty Harry, treats this cast with respect but not excessive sentimentality. The three veteran stars and talented younger one (Howard) help give a fitting send-off to Wayne, who died in 1979. Corners lightly creased. Otherwise fine condition.
