Playbill for a production of The Sisters Rosensweig at New York's Ethel Barrymore Theatre. The show was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play in 1993 and Madeline Kahn won the Tony Award for Best Actress, an award which Jane Alexander was also nominated for. The play, written by Wendy Wasserstein, ran for 656 performances (1993-1994). JANE ALEXANDER (b. 1939) portrayed the First Lady in two TV specials, Eleanor and Franklin (1976) and Eleanor and Franklin: the White House Years (1977). Alexander won a Tony Award for The Great White Hope (1969) and an Emmy Award for Playing for Time (1981). She also was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress for The Great White Hope (1971) and Testament (1983) and nominated for Best Supporting Actress Oscars for All The President's Men and Kramer vs. Kramer (1979). She chaired the National Endowment for the Arts from 1993-1997. American actress CHRISTINE ESTABROOK was born on September 13, 1952 in Erie, Pennsylvania. She began her acting career on stage and won several awards for her Off-Broadway performances. She has appeared in numerous television shows including Hometown (1985), The Crew (1995-1996), Dharma and Greg (1997), Chicago Hope (2000), Nikki (2000-2002), NYPD Blue (2004), Law & Order (2008), American Horror Story (2011) and as Martha Huber on the hit television series Desperate Housewives (2004-2010). Operatically trained, MADELINE KAHN (1942-1999) achieved her greatest successes in manic comedy roles, earning Best Supporting Actress nominations for Paper Moon (1973) and Blazing Saddles (1974). She garnered a Golden Globe nomination for her short-lived TV sitcom, Oh, Madeline! (1983) and won a Tony for her performance in The Sisters Rosensweig (1993). Stage and film actor, ROBERT KLEIN (b. 1942) is perhaps best known as a stand-up comic. After debuting on The Ed Sullivan Show, Klein appeared in numerous Broadway shows, including They're Playing Our Song, for which he was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor, films and cable TV specials. In addition to hosting Comedy Tonight (1970), which first brought him national attention, and later Dead Comics Society and Stand Up Stand Up for the Comedy Central cable service, Klein has recorded three comedy albums, Child of the 50s (1973), Mind Over Matter (1974) and New Tooth (1992). Klein starred in the 1979 Broadway musical, They're Playing Our Song, opposite Lucie Arnaz, earning a Best Actor Tony Award nomination for his portrayal of a songwriter who falls in love. ROBIN MOSELEY, who was an understudy to Jane Alexander in the play, appeared in five Broadway productions between 1992 and 2010, A Small Family Business (1992), The Sisters Rosensweig (1992-1993), Faith Healer (2006), Pygmalion (2007) and Present Laughter (2010).
