Official "Giles" National League Baseball signed by "Red Schoendienst" (manager) and "Orlando Cepeda" on the sweet-spot, "Roger Maris", "Bob Gibson", "Steve Carlton", "Lou Brock", "Curt Flood", "Tim McCarver", "Mike Shannon", "Dick Schofield", "Joe Hoerner", "Ray Washburn", "Ron Davis", "John Edwards", "Nelson Briles", "Joe Schultz" (coach), "Phil Gagliano", "Wayne Granger", "Dick Hughes", "Billy Muffett" (coach), "Mel Nelson" and "Ed Spezio". In the last year before realignment into two divisions, the 1968 Cardinals won the National League pennant by nine games over the San Francisco Giants. They lost the World Series to the Detroit Tigers in seven games. BOB GIBSON had a 22-9 record with an incredible 1.12 ERA, throwing an unbelievable 13 shutouts. ROGER MARIS, who still holds the American League record of 61 home runs in 1961, retired after the 1968 season. Schoendienst, Cepeda, Gibson, Carlton and Brock are Baseball Hall of Famers.
