LOUIS CARDINALS: KEN BOYER, STEVE CARLTON, CURT FLOOD, TITO FRANCONA, BOB GIBSON, RED SCHOENDIENST, RAY WASHBURN, DENNIS AUST, DAL MAXVILL, GEORGE KERNEK, BOB PURKEY, NELSON BRILES, LARRY JASTER, BARNEY SCHULTZ, BOB TOLAN, JULIAN JAVIER, MICKEY VERNON, BOB MILLIKEN and DAVE RICKETTS Baseball signed by the 1965 St. Louis Cardinals, including manager and Hall of Famer Red Schoendienst, Hall of Famer and Cy Young Award winners Bob Gibson and Steve Carlton and 1964 National League MVP Ken Boyer. This was Schoendienst's first year managing the Cardinals; he led them to a World Series Championship in 1967. Baseball signed "Red Schoendienst" in the sweet spot and "Curt Flood", "Ray Washburn", "Dennis Aust", [unknown], "Ken Boyer", "Dal Maxvill", "Bob Milliken", "Tito Francona", "George Kernek", "Bob Purkey", "Nelson Briles", "Steve Carlton", "Bob Gibson", "Larry Jaster", "Barney Schultz", "Mickey Vernon", "Dave Ricketts", "Bob Tolan", "Julian Javier", plus five unknown signatures, all in blue ink. 2½-inch diameter. Spalding Official National League Baseball with Warren Giles facsimile signature. The Cardinals had a rough year in 1965, finishing seventh in the National League, but they were a team brimming with talent and promise. It was the first year managing the Cards for future Hall of Famer RED SCHOENDIENST, and in a few short years he led them to the 1967 championship and the 1968 National League Pennant. Signers also include BOB GIBSON (Hall of Fame, two-time Cy Young Award winner and 1968 NL MVP), STEVE CARLTON (Hall of Fame and four-time Cy Young Award winner) and RED BOYER (All-Star and 1694 NL MVP) and All-Stars CURT FLOOD, TITO FRANCONA, BOB PURKEY and JULIAN JAVIER. This ball is also signed by coaches MICKEY VERNON (All-Star) and BOB MILLIKEN. Lightly toned and soiled. Signatures are faded but legible. Otherwise in fine condition.
