ST LOUIS CARDINALS (1966): TIM McCARVER, CURT FLOOD, JOE HOERNER, BOBBY TOLAN and DICK SISLER
Team program bearing photos and facsimile signatures of 30 players and 2 announcers. McCarver, Flood, Hoerner, Tolan and Sisler have signed it in ink.
Program signed: "Tim McCarver", "Curt Flood", "Joe Hoerner", "Bobby Tolan", "Dick Sisler", 17x11 open flat, 8½x11 folded. Ballpark program of the 1966 St Louis Cardinals, with printed roster and individual player posters, plus a photo of the new Busch Memorial Stadium and of famed announcers Harry Carey and Jack Buck. Busch Memorial Stadium was brand new in 1966, and would serve as the Cardinals' home park for 30 years until a new stadium ("Busch Stadium III") opened in 2006. The 1966 Cardinals went 83-79 under manager Red Schoendienst, but an only slightly modified roster won the World Series the following year, and the pennant in 1968. Of the five signers, catcher TIM McCARVER, now a veteran broadcaster, and center fielder CURT FLOOD, who would later challenge the reserve clause and pave the way for free agency, played on all three Cardinal World Series teams of that decade: the 1964 team which beat the Yankees, the 1967 team which downed the Red Sox, and the 1968 unit which lost to the Tigers in seven games. Outfielder TOLAN and closer HOERNERwere on the '67 and '68 pennant winners. SISLER, son of Hall of Famer George Sisler, was a Cardinal coach from 1966 to 1970. He had played on the 1946 World Champion Cardinals. Vertical crease through center. Notches at crease. Lightly toned and worn around edges. Creased. Unknown stains throughout program. Otherwise, fine condition.
